With the clock ticking and the race date of March 29, 2020 already within sight, Gdynia recently delivered a foretaste of what can be expected during the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships 2020. This year’s annual Gdynia Half Marathon – held on March 17, 2019 – was used as the testing ground for the brand new course and unique finish line area located on the sandy beach in the heart of ‘the city of dreams and sea’. Sondre Nordstad Moen (NOR) – just coming back from injury – won the race after an outstanding solo performance in the windy conditions in 61:18, proving that the course allows for fast running. Especially, when there will be more sub-60 minutes contenders in the field.

A giant countdown clock located in the city center of Gdynia cannot be wrong – it’s just one year until the world’s best road runners line up on the Kosciuszko Square to compete for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships 2020 medals on a course with the finish line on the city beach. Mass race registration is scheduled to open on May 1st, 2019.
